Brother Matthew Gaudreau Dies After Hit-and-Run

The NHL community is mourning the tragic loss of Matthew Gaudreau, the brother of Calgary Flames forward Johnny Gaudreau. Matthew was killed early Saturday morning after being struck by a suspected drunk driver in New Jersey.

Suspect Arrested, Charged with Vehicular Homicide

The driver, identified as 27-year-old Daniel Aaronson, was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide. According to police, Aaronson was speeding and under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

Matthew Gaudreau, 22, was crossing the street in Voorhees, New Jersey, when he was hit by Aaronson's vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Johnny Gaudreau Devastated by Loss

Johnny Gaudreau, who is currently playing with Team Canada at the World Championships in Finland, has been informed of his brother's death. He is said to be devastated by the news.

The Flames organization released a statement expressing their condolences to the Gaudreau family. "We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Matthew Gaudreau," the statement said. "We offer our heartfelt condolences to Johnny and his family during this difficult time."
